Entitlement to a refund or exchange

A customer is entitled to a refund or exchange, with proof of purchase, under the following circumstances:

  • If you have received a product that is faulty and the fault was not made apparent at time of purchase but was existing prior to the order being received.
  • The product is not performing according to the label.
  • If the product received does not match the product offered at time of purchase.

If one or more of the above circumstances has occurred, the customer (in discussion with staff) may negotiate their eligibility for a replacement, repair or refund.

Please inspect your order upon delivery / pick-up, and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

The cut-off period for the above entitlements is 3 months after purchase date. This is because we cannot ascertain the conditions under which a product(s) has been stored once it has left our shop. We are not liable for any damage occurring to a product after it has left our shop.

Repair

Repair on products only applies if damage to product was not the result of wear and tear through use by the customer/owner

Ineligible for a refund or exchange

All staff have the permission to refuse a refund or exchange on the following grounds.

Change of mind on online purchases does not entitle a customer to a refund or exchange.

We do not offer refund or exchanges for change of mind or incorrect selection on our online store. Please be sure to double check you cart on checking out.

Change of mind includes the following:

  • A gift has been purchased and is unsuitable.
  • The product purchased has been found cheaper elsewhere.
  • The customer no longer wants the product.

If a product has been opened or otherwise used we cannot offer a  refund or exchange unless it is deemed the customer is entitled to said refund or exchange according to the above  entitlements. See Entitlement to a refund.

If, at time of purchase, the customer is aware of an item fault, they are not entitled to a refund. for example, an item may be discounted due to damage or a missing part.

If the customer cannot provide adequate proof of purchase they will not be eligible to receive a refund or exchange.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.

Proof of purchase

Please ensure you can provide proof of purchase from Melbourne Artists' Supplies if you are requesting a refund, exchange, or repair.

What constitutes a proof of purchase?

  • Original Tax Receipt or Invoice
  • Bank statement showing transaction total and date of purchase

These must be able to be traced in our system so that we can provided an accurate refund, exchange or repair.

Refund procedure

To enquire about a refund or return, please contact us at online@melbourneartsupplies.com.au.

If you are eligible for a return, we will send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund is approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded via your original payment method within 10 business days.

Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process the refund.

If more than 15 business days have passed since we’ve approved your return please contact us.


 

In-store only - Exchanges for change of mind:

If a customer has changed their mind about a product(s) purchased in-store (not online) they can exchange the product for either another item(s) or an in-store credit

Change of mind can include the following:

  • A gift has been purchased and is unsuitable.
  • The product purchased has been found cheaper elsewhere.
  • If the product is no longer suitable.

We do not offer exchanges on the following products:

  • Pens & markers
  • Aerosols

 A customer is also only available for the above exchange if they can provide proof of purchase, the goods being exchanged are in saleable condition, have not been used, are in original packaging, and can be resold.

For change of mind the cut of period for the above entitlements is one month after purchase date.
